Sheridan Smith channels Angelina Jolie for her latest role

Sheridan Smith has been channelling her inner Angelina Jolie for new film Tower Block.

The former Legally Blonde actress, 30, has been doing her own stunts in the thriller - despite admitting she is actually a "big wimp".

Sheridan has been shooting the film for the past four weeks in east London alongside Being Human's Russell Tovey, Jack O'Connell from Skins and Ralph Brown (Withnail And I).

"I do all my own stunts. Look at me, like Angelina Jolie," she said.

Sheridan said she has had to face some of her fears.

"It's really good fun but it is quite scary though. I'm scared of heights and spiders, and I can't swim - I'm actually just a big wimp - so it is quite terrifying. But I am determined to do it," she added.

After winning the Olivier Award for her performance in the West End production of Legally Blonde and appearing in TV shows like Gavin & Stacey, Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps and Benidorm, Sheridan is thrilled about showing audiences a different side to her.

In Tower Block, directed by first time feature film-makers Ronnie Thompson and James Nunn and written by Doctor Who and Torchwood writer James Moran, Sheridan plays Becky, who comes under attack after she witnesses the murder of a teenager.

"It's so out of my comfort zone, a character like this, and that drew me to the part really. I've never been seen as an action girl," she said

HAPPY 1^st TWITTER ANNIVERSARY

Russell Tovey and I joined Twitter on Friday the 13th August 2010. He has shared one whole year of his Twitterspondence and his private pictures with this blog, for which I profusely thank him.

He has been irritated by my pseudo stalking skills at times and at other times, he has revelled in the attention and notoriety the blog brings, not to mention all the free publicity. The fans that flock here daily are testament to how beloved he really is.

Along the way I have had nothing but support by most of Russell's friends some of which follow the blog names I use on Twitter. Russell, in fact, has many more thespian and industry people reading this blog than he probably realises. The blog is followed by TV news & media outlets and columnists and people who run other blogs about showbiz.

At last count the blog was read by people from 134 different countries and over 200,000 people were hitting the site monthly. Russell has tweeted 3,619 tweets to date and they are all recorded here. In his first week of arriving on Twitter, Russell had almost gained 10,000 followers and now he has over 52,000.

This blog shows the rise and rise of Russell Tovey over a 12 month period and as one of my followers put it recently, the blog should be called The Tovey Chronicles.
