I slim down for the show. Playing werewolf George, I’m naked for the ‘transforming’ scenes. No matter how much people say they don’t, everyone looks at your willy if it’s hanging out! The least I can do is get into shape, so a few weeks before filming starts, I cut out carbs after 7pm and go running every day.
My Essex roots inspired Gavin & Stacey… I grew up in Billericay. James Corden wanted the show to be based on Essex and, as I bang on about Billericay all the time, he set it there. He’d phone me up asking for the street names and area codes, then just say, “Thanks,” and hang up.
… and made me famous. I’m still recognised as Budgie from Gavin & Stacey. Someone once said, “Budgie! You’re a legend!” I was like, “I only had three lines, how am I a legend, really?!”
I turned down porn from Russell Brand. When I was 11, we were in a TV show, Mud, together. He talked about girls, and asked if I wanted any porn. I said no but still thought he was one of the coolest people I had ever met.
My neighbours get papped more than I do. I live in Primrose Hill and there are paparazzi waiting for all the celebs who live there. Seeing Gwen Stefani walking around there is odd. My big ears give me away!
People write odd letters to me. One guy told me his dead mum had told him in a message that he should be friends with me. It was very bizarre.

Just to let you know I am a grandfather of a baby girl. This is my first biological grandchild as I already have a 4 year old step-grandson that I love unconditionally.
For most of the pregnancy my daughter suffered severe diabetes, high blood pressure, breech birth predictions and toxic blood problems (daughter went yellow) - it all came to a crunch this past Thursday and the obstetrician decided to conduct an emergency caesarean.
