A nine-episode online extension of BBC Three vampire drama 'Being Human' is set to launch in January 2011.

An online extension of 'Being Human' has been commissioned by the BBC.

The nine-episode version of the BBC Three drama - entitled 'Becoming Human' - will follow the story of young vampire Adam (Craig Roberts) and werewolf Christa (Leila Mimmack) as they attempt to lead normal lives while attending college.

However, after striking up a friendship with Matt (Josh Brown), the trio become involved in a mysterious storyline.

Toby Whithouse, creator of the online series, said: "Fans demanded it; the world of 'Being Human' is expanding! We've got a cracking story lined up; with some terrific new characters and all the thrills and chills you can manage."

Additionally, the new extension to the vampire drama allows fans to get involved with a whole host of media platforms.

Sarah Clay, BBC multiplatform drama commissioner, explained: "The 'Becoming Human' online extension doesn't just consist of nine episodes, the narrative extends beyond that with daily clues in the form of press cuttings, anonymous tips, CCTV footage, mobile phone clips. Giving the online audience the chance to follow the mystery on the blog as it unfolds."

'Becoming Human' is to launch online midway through the BBC Three transmission of 'Being Human' - starring Russell Tovey - which begins in January 2011.

------------

Marcus Whitney (head make-up artist), and some of the Being Human (BH) team of writers, assistants, producers, directors etc are about to finish shooting Becoming Human (BcH). Marcus had a small break overseas between the end of filming BH and then came back to work on BcH. He has kept us with fans with a few tweets on Twitter - nothing controversial - no leaks!

One of the nice things to know about Marcus is that he sometimes sends cheery little Twitter messages to people when they are not well. He recently did this with a BH blog contributor who shall remain anonymous but here's to say she really appreciated his act of kindness.

Marcus also keeps me up to speed - nothing controversial - no leaks!
