Broadway Bares All 2006


Broadway Bares 16: "New York Strip" was a roaring success with a record-breaking $659,500 raised to benefit Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. The evening featured 200 of the sexiest chorus boys and girls from Broadway's biggest shows baring (almost) all, along with some of Broadway's biggest stars including Sandra Bernhard; Mario Cantone; Alan Cumming; Fran Drescher; Sara Gettelfinger; Cyndi Lauper; Rita Wilson and from the cast of Jersey Boys, Dominic Nolfi, Daniel Reichard, J. Robert Spencer, and John Lloyd Young. The previous record was set in 2005, with $654,000 raised.

"Broadway Bares" is produced by Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, executive produced by Tony Awardâ-winner Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, La Cage Aux Folles) and directed by Denis Jones (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels). Food was supplied by Tony's DiNapoli Times Square.

Highlights from this year's "Broadway Bares 16" included: Cyndi Lauper (Threepenny Opera) performing a moving rendition of her hit "True Colors," then opening her overcoat to reveal pasties and a phallus; Sara Gettelfinger (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) performing the shows opening number "New York Strip," which was penned by Gary Adler (Altar Boyz); and Barrett Foa (Avenue Q) and Matthew Rannells (Hairspray) providing comic relief as "Chip" and "Chip" a young gay couple from the Midwest visiting New York for the first time.
