A little bit of Tovey just in time for Xmas:
The silly season is soon to be upon us and numerous Christmas TV specials are re-issued with gleeful abandon. Below is a 3 minute edit from the 2007 Dr. Who Christmas special Voyage Of The Damned starring Russell Tovey, Kylie Minogue and David Tennant.
The basic premise is that an intergalactic star ship is having a themed cruise over the Earth decked out like the Titanic. An alien waitress named Astrid meets The Doctor. He helps her to leave the drudgery of working on the ship and visit Earth. They return in time to discover the Host robots that are service crew are set on destruct mode. Midshipman Alonso Frame (Russell Tovey), Astrid Peth (Kylie Minogue), The Doctor (David Tennant) and the others have to overcome the robots and their mad creator who is secretly aboard ship. To compound matters, Midshipman Frame has been shot by the Captain (Geoffrey Palmer) , who is also on the side of the mad mastermind Max Capricorn (George Costigan).
The sample shown below is hopefully enough to induce Russell Tovey fans to buy the complete DVD set of season 4 of David Tennant's Dr Who. The box set also includes a commentary by Russell which is not available on the regular issue.
