RUSSELL TOVEY - No.760

Tom In Oz
becomes a TV extra

Today while traversing the grounds of Edinburgh Castle doing family history...Mrs Oz has ancestors who were Black Watch soldiers born at Johnson Terrace under the castle's east face...We ended up being extras in the background of a new BBC1 show called "Case Histories." One of the guest stars is Philip Davis. The series is in production currently but won't make it to TV until approx. October 2011. The particular episode being filmed today was with actors Philips Davis and Jason Isaacs. Jason starred alongside Mel Gibson in the movie The Patriot and is also known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films.

Both Phil and Jason were very kind and talkative. Phil and crew allowed me to stand around with my iPod and do a little bit of filming for the Russell Tovey blog. The vid uploaded below is of Phil sitting between takes Tweeting to friends until he was called for his next scene. There is also a cute dog doing tricks ready for his scene. The production crew were very happy to chat to me and Mrs Oz. Sadly, none of them knew the team working on Being Human!!!

Even though Mrs Oz and I are going to miss out on meeting the cast of Being Human because filming concludes this week we have at least ended up in another BBC show as extras. Woo-hoo! When this episode airs Phil and Jason will be sitting on a park bench with people walking around in the background...Mrs Oz and I walk along a concrete walkway above and behind both actors looking like tourists (talk about type casting)...

The Examiner: Edinburgh will provide the setting for a six-part BBC One dramatization of Case Histories, the first book in Kate Atkinson's Jackson Brodie detective series. Actor Jason Isaacs, known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, will take on the role of Brodie, a private investigator...

Press play:

Meanwhile over in Barry Wales the last scenes of Being Human series three are being filmed at roughly the same time I'm in Edinburgh...and here is a picture of Russell Tovey with the head of make up Marcus Whitney.
