RUSSELL TOVEY - No.1333

russelltovey: Hammered with @jemma22 1-1-2013

At the start of 2013 one of my long term Twitter followers asked me for an honest answer to why I stopped activity on the Russell Tovey blog?

I replied candidly:

"Russell gave up on his Twitter fans and hardly ever talked to them. He just became obsessed with self-promotion and self-importance. He sent thoughtless and insulting tweets sometimes fuelled by alcohol. He sometimes used immature "bad boy" idioms that would have made a 14 year old look like Shakespeare. Russell ganged-up with his TV and print media buddies (his "sisters"), to make heartless in-jokes at the expense of other celebs or fans which all left me cold. He was becoming offensive in many ways!
On the way up he was very happy to acknowledge ordinary people and say hello or have a quick chat but after he got to 100,000 Twitter followers he forgot all about the "little people!" There was little point running a fan blog for Russell when he no longer interacted courteously with his Twitter fans."

I insisted that after 3 years of free publicity generated by the blog I felt there was little point continuing. Tovey was once "A Star In The Making" but in my opinion, he'd become a bitter fruit!

My other blog for UK actor and occasional newspaper columnist Charlie Condou will continue to function as normal.

http://charlie-corrie-condou.blogspot.com.au/

The Tovey blog had 2 or 3 daily updates for nearly 2 years and was a major undertaking each day capturing and publishing Russell's Twitter output. It would not have been possible without the support of the fans. Russell has little need of a fan blog so it was my decision to retire the blog and archive the material. Even though the Twitter correspondence will be quickly outdated some of the special features and articles remain a significant part of Tovey's career and my hard work in maintaining this blog. Due to numerous requests I have decided to leave the blog on-line.

Cheers,
@SirThomasWynne

THE REPLACEMENT "BEING HUMAN" CAST
Click picture to enlarge:
This is the last instalment from my friend Mark M. Merrett the CGI expert from London. When Russell Tovey bowed out of Being Human, Mark decided to make a large artwork featuring the new cast of the series. So here it is at last, after many months in the making, a very large picture of the original cast members and their replacements. A very big thank you to Mark for allowing me to share the picture with all of Tovey's fans.

'COMES OUT'
AFTER 35 YEARS

Anyone who works in Australian Education will tell you, as employees we constantly hope that we don't cross the line of public responsibility and breech any kinds of child protection issues by nominating ourselves and our schools/work places on the internet.
We try to limit personal comments about school staff/parents/students, try to avoid commenting on government policy/issues or make damaging/derogatory remakes about education. We also try to not place ourselves in situations where our identity can affect our careers or endanger the students we teach.

The following list is just a quick inventory of some of the things I have been involved with since the 1980s:

# building a successful 35 year career in teaching (Bach Ed Stud/Deputy Principal);
# assistant producer and co-ordinator of the Hunter Dance Festival/Starstruck;
# recipient of the NSW Dpt Ed Welfare Initiatives Award;
# inaugural President of the Hunter Region "Personal Development/Health/P.E. Association;"
# recipient of 2 Regional Education Director's Awards in Welfare & Dance;
# lecturing part-time for the University of Western Sydney;
# running a mobile disco franchise (Tom-Mix Mobile Music);
# sound engineer (on projects such as the Australian 'OzBurn Song Restoration Campaign');
# currently assisting with the collection of every charting song played on Sydney radio from 1955 to 2000;
# operating a home recording studio service (Tom Mix Productions);
# writing historical journals and books (The Victoria Lifeboats I&II of Newcastle/Family History/Australian Convicts/Settlers of NSW);
# managing internet sites for UK TV celebrities such as Charlie Condou and Russell Tovey;
# assisting Aussie singers Rick Springfield, Judy Stone, Wally Morrison, Kevin Johnson and many more (helping to compile and release commercial CDs all over the world - one of which is the Rick Springfield Anthology where I get a nice thank you in the liner notes);
# working part-time as a music manager for Aussie singing legend Judy Stone (I successfully helped Judy bring a black market CD profiteer to justice in the USA);
and being a Justice of the Peace for the community where I live in Newcastle Australia...
but
for many years I was unable to mention any of my hobbies or interests because of my primary work in Australian Education...
BUT
as of yesterday, this has ceased!
I don't have to remain anonymous any more.
I have retired!

If I bring myself into disrepute in the future I have to suffer the consequences as a citizen rather than an employee of Australian Education.

And most of all I can now use my surname on my blogs, use my name on Twitter, Facebook pages and so on.

Yes, my Sir Thomas Culpepper bloodline connection to the Royal Family can be revealed and mentioned as I share an ancient Sussex line with Princess Diana and therefore Prince Harry and Prince William.

Click link to the Culpepper lineageHERE

I can proudly state that my First Fleet convict ancestors Anthony Rope of Essex and Elizabeth Pulley of Norfolk were the first couple to have an "Australian made baby" which makes me Oz Royalty
(well, sort of)!.
You might even spot me on some internet sites for little towns in the UK where I have researched over the years. Norwich Castle has a copy of my 7,000 pages of family research that detail the descendants of the Rope/Pulley family.

Last time I was in the UK I lectured in Hastings on Australian Lifeboats and visited a variety of Rural Schools including Catsfield in Sussex. Catsfield is where my ancient families of Honisett and Blackman lived and funded the construction of the historic school where I presented a power-point display to the student body in 2010.

My Phillips/Jenkins/Thomas ancestral families started the Welsh town of New Quay.

My direct ancestors were the Sheriffs of Flintshire for hundreds of years.

I come from the same family that started Pennsylvania in America....

So have I whetted your appetite, are you dying to see my surname?

Meh, it's no big deal, really!

But I am going for 35 years of dramatic build up here...

Oh, and if you are a Coronation Street fan you'll recognise my surname instantly - my great grandfather started the motor garage where Tyrone works!
