Russell Tovey has played numerous stage and TV roles. He is slowly making a name for himself as a very versatile performer. He is not rushing into his work with abandon. He is choosing to play characters that are complicated and gritty, everything from a werewolf to a romantic lead in Little Dorrit...he is comfortable in his own skin and is not afraid of crying when it's called for.
Rusty's partial resume:
He's played Tintin in Tibet on stage,
stroppy Steve in Him & Her [Young, Unemployed and Lazy],
midshipman Alonso Frame in Dr Who,
werewolf George Sands in Being Human,
police constable Terence Reed in Murder Is Easy,
Leslie Durrell in My Family and Other Animals

I think Russell is now at that stage in his career where people are appreciating his fresh unique style, as we get to see him in more meaty roles.
My first reaction was to compare Russell's looks to that of legendary former star David Tomlins who was one of the first actors I saw on the big screen in the 1960s in Miranda the Mermaid, Bedknobs And Broomsticks and Mary Poppins.
The next thought I had was, I wonder can Russell sing, or would he "talk" through a song like David Tomlins used to do?
