Tom_In_Oz_: Dear Harry @HorshamiteHarry I wrote to Russell @russelltovey in April 2010 and let him know I was starting a fan blog.
I told him I'd yank it if he objected. I sent 7 copies of the letter out to his agent [C.C.], to BBC3 and so forth...never got word back...so I just started...then within a month the blog following just grew and grew.
The blog now has 70,000 things re-tweeted around the world. People from 106 different countries have visited the site, and currently the monthly figures are at 170,000 hits.
I also told Russell blogging was something I'd do for free but if he objected to things I would remove them.
Most of the time things have gone smoothly. A couple of Twitter errors by Russ I didn’t agree with but hey...he will cop trouble with his fans not me!
In fact although we don't talk, when we do exchange Tweets, he's given me permission to upload his naked pics etc...so either he's happy about what I do..or just doesn't care...
Most of all the fans just love the blog...otherwise the site figures wouldn't be so good...
I have had a few strange people accuse me of making money off of it which is a laugh! The name I use is anonymous and has no business associated with it etc...some deluded Twitter guy thought I was scamming Russell for fame...well how is an anonymous name going to be famous I ask? (Yes, Tom in Oz made it to an article in Attitude Magazine - WOW! Tom in Oz in now famous). Anyway my full-time job is teaching, which is nothing to do with celebrity or show biz.
I didn't even meet Russell when in the UK and had the opportunity to do so. So the answer is yes, I'm a fan but no, not devoted to the point of slavishly wanting to please Russell or stalk him.....
Mostly, I please myself with what I make and do for the blog...and expect nothing in return...well maybe a Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas would have been nice, but that's it!
