Season 1, Episode 4

In this episode of "Servants" Russell Tovey plays John Walters a footman. Russell was ostensibly a guest star who was brought in to be the adversary to house servant Fred. Fred and John spend most of this episode preparing for a big climactic race that Fred needs to win to keep his position in the household. The race scenes take place at Dyrham Park Gloucestershire [a place I have visited while in the UK on various trips]. Russell does some impressive skipping routines and racing scenes in this very rare footage. This is material that has never been transferred to DVD.

BARKSTON CHECKS IN

 Mr Barkston T. Mouse was not your average grey house mouse! No, he was a world-class business mouse with a background in journalism, an interest in high-finance and he also dabbled in psychiatry most nights of the week at his home in Germany. He was born in the Black Forest Germany, raised in Earl's Court and nowadays lived near Strasbourg with Lady Retriever, Ozziebear, Hamish Hamster and his host Tom Markstahler.

Barkston had been shrewdly watching the unfolding chapters of the much loved ‘Famous Five’ stories and enjoyed reading about his own adventures on the Tovey Blog. He did this by sneaking down to Tom Markstahler’s computer most nights while the household was asleep. You see, Barkston was also a very adept computer mouse!

After reading a Famous Five chapter one night Barkston had a brainwave. He was packing his souvenir tickets away from his recent Christmas trip to the UK to see his friend Mickey, who was in the long running play “The Mousetrap,” when he suddenly got an idea for a brilliant entrepreneurial enterprise – a play!

"Hmm…my friend Miss Pat knows some UK actors...and she said she wants to write a play! Hmm...I shall contact her and see if we can get an 'angel' to back us...It's a brilliant plan," he thought! 
"Maybe we could talk Russell Tovey into being a part of this too, we could offer him 10% of the gross. I heard he'll work for peanuts!"
